Welcome to my Kitchen!!
I’m a… well I haven’t yet decided what I want to be when I grow up. When I do though I’ll be sure to come back here and update you.
In the mean time here in the wilds of north Mayo, I use my kitchen for lots of things. It’s the biggest part of the big open space that is the downstairs of our house and it’s a lovely space for creating and concocting all sorts of what-not. I cook food in it obviously. But photography is a big love of mine so I also develop film in here. It has a big island in the middle which is perfect for all sorts of stuff and nonsense and faffing and I hope you’ll enjoy reading about some of the stuff and nonsense and faffing I get up to in my kitchen. I’m not a gourmande, we don’t eat interesting or decadent things every day of the week, we live in the middle of nowhere and interesting and decadent ingredients aren’t always the easiest to come by, but when I think something is worth sharing I’ll share it with you.
You might notice a lot of the time I call recipes ‘non recipes’. You’ll probably notice me too, banging on about how recipes are simply ideas – inspiration to be taken apart and tweaked and twiddled until they’re your own. If you manage to persevere through my drivel and droning, and are inspired to tweak and twiddle even ONE dish in these pages, well then hi-diddley-do that’s good enough for me!!!!
